Hebrews
13:21a
“May
the God of peace provide you with every good thing that you need in order to do
his will.” (GNT)
I don’t know if you’re like me, but sometimes I feel
very inadequate, like I just don’t measure up. If I know someone is doing
something similar, say, cooking, I get really nervous and begin to compare
myself to them, thinking what they have will be so much better that what I may
cook. When it comes to spiritual matters I really feel
less than qualified to “work for God.”
Today’s verse caught my attention and
provided a solution on how I can handle these feelings. Paul starts the verse my saying “May the God of
peace.” Now, why did he reference God as the god of peace, instead of say, the
god of love or wisdom? Well, when I think about having peace, I am calm, more relaxed,
and I am not focused on myself or my abilities; I have simply released the
worrisome thoughts and turn my focus to God.
I believe Paul started the scripture referencing peace because my mind has to be in a peaceful state in order to hear the voice of God. So first and foremost I need peace so my mind can be
receptive to God’s voice. Then and only then can He give me my task for the day
and I can receive it and move towards accomplishing it.
But that’s not the only
thing He does. After He has given me the task, He also provides me with every good
thing I need to complete the task. Every good thing can take the form of wisdom,
creativity, people, money, knowledge - the list is endless - and it is always
good! Hallelujah! He’s got is all covered.
Today, walk in the peace that God freely gives to you
and confidently go forth in completing the task He has assigned for you today.
Walking in peace,
Samala
