Proverbs 12:14
“From
the fruit of his words a man shall be satisfied with good, and the work of a
man’s hands shall come back to him [as a harvest].”
(Amplified Bible)
Luke
8:5-7
“The
sower went forth to sow his seed: some fell by the wayside… and another fell on
the rock… and another fell amidst the thorns…and other fell into the good
ground.” (American Standard Version)
There’s nothing like the sweet smell of a fresh
juicy watermelon in the morning. Can’t you just smell the aroma wafting through
the air and feel the red juice dripping from your face as you go all in to eat
the refreshing fruit down to its core?
That is one of my favorite childhood summer memories!
I also remember as a child thinking that if I swallowed the watermelon seeds, ate some dirt (yes, I was a dirt eater back then), and drank a cup of water, I could grow watermelons inside my body.
Crazy, huh?
Yeah, that’s the wonderful imagination of a child’s mind. Everything is possible, nothing is unlimited, and risk outweighs doubt.
It’s very clear that as humans we cannot grow fruits or vegetables inside our bodies by swallowing seeds, but we can grow a harvest by the seeds we ingest every day.
Seeds? Yes, seeds of love, joy, peace, laughter, generosity, hope, truth, faith. Or seeds of misery, complaining, gossip, strife, doubt, hatred, anger. The list of positive or negative seeds could go on and on.
The question is…which seeds are you planting in your life today?
Take a moment and reflect on the seeds that you’ve planted this week. What harvest do you see springing forth as a result?
If you are experiencing more negative than positive results, chances are your seeds may need to be uprooted and replanted with seeds that will bring forth a harvest of blessings for yourself, your family, your friends, even strangers.
Today, select seeds of happiness, peace, gentleness, love, praise, and watch the abundant harvest that will bless your today and overflow into your tomorrow and days to come!
